Glenn was born and raised in Camilla, Georgia, where he graduated from Mitchell County High School before earning his Bachelor of Arts at Mercer University, double majoring in Mathematics and Economics. Glenn went on to earn his Masters in Professional Accounting from Georgia State University. Following his MPA, he became a Certified Public Accountant and worked for Arthur Anderson and Co., where he gained invaluable experience as an accountant at the national firm. Three years later, he returned to Mercer University to obtain his Juris Doctorate at the Walter F. George School of Law. Glenn rounded out his education by receiving his Master of Laws in Taxation from the University of Florida’s Fredric G. Levin School of Law.
In 1978, Glenn returned to southwest Georgia and began building his tax law practice in Albany. He initially focused his practice on technical estate and tax planning, but has since expanded his expertise over the years in order serve any need a small business owner or wealthy individual may have.
Glenn has dedicated his time and talent to the community, serving on several boards and committees throughout the region in the last four decades. Most notably, Glenn served on the board at Deerfield-Windsor School for a total of eight years and the Phoebe Foundation, helping with fundraising campaigns to improve facilities at both organizations, including chairing the committee that raised funds for the Willson Hospice House. He also has served as a “home owner partner” for Habitat for Humanity, providing pro bono legal services to the local Albany Habitat for Humanity. Additionally, Glenn served as President and Chairman of the Board of Doublegate Country Club for five years. Glenn is a member of Porterfield Memorial United Methodist Church, where he has enjoyed serving as a Sunday school teacher and a Trustee.
Glenn married his wife Margaret “Peggy” Jane Ansley of Moultrie, Georgia in 1973, after meeting as undergraduates at Mercer University in Macon. Together they raised their three sons, Glenn A. Kirbo, Jr., Campbell W. Kirbo and John H. Kirbo, and as a family enjoyed hiking, scuba diving, and all the adventure that comes with raising three boys. They are the proud grandparents of four granddaughters and four grandsons. When Glenn is not practicing law, he enjoys spending quality time with family, playing cards and dominos with friends, photography and traveling with Peggy.
